WHAT IS NATA?
The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), which is a body of Council of Architecture, New Delhi in India. The National Aptitude Test in Architecture is a national level examination for admission to undergraduate courses in architecture. The test measures the aptitude of applicants for a specific field of study in areas like drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking, qualities that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to architecture.
NATA or the JEE Mains Paper 2 exam are prescribed by the Council of Architecture as a compulsory criterion for taking admission to any Architectural College or course in India.

NATA - 2022
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or 10+ 3 Diploma with Mathematics as subject of study can appear for NATA 2021. Candidates appearing for 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects of study or 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics in the current year may also provisionally appear for NATA-2022.
The eligibility for admission to 1st year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree program for the academic session 2022 shall be as per CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 2021 or as may be amended by the Central Government. The present eligibility in terms of Regulations, 2020 is as under: “No candidate shall be admitted to architecture course unless he has passed an examination at the end of the 10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate.”
Qualifying in NATA 2022 does not constitute a right/ guarantee in favour of the candidate for admission to a B. Arch. Program unless the candidate has fulfilled all the prescribed requirements as specified by respective competent admission authorities in compliance with the eligibility criteria laid down by the Council of Architecture
A candidate can take all of three tests. In case a candidate appears for 2 Tests, best of the 2 scores shall be taken as the valid score and in the case of 3 attempts, valid score shall be taken as the average of the 2 best scores
(i) Application fee payable by a MALE candidate applying for NATA– 2022, for any one test is INR Rs.2000/- (Rupees Two thousand only) FEMALE candidate applying for NATA– 2022, for any one test is INR Rs.1500/- payable through ONLINE mode.
(ii) Application fee payable by a MALE Candidate who wishes to apply for both first and second test is Rs 4000/- (Rupees Four thousand only), FEMALE Candidate who wishes to apply for both first and second test is Rs 3000/-
(iii) Application fee payable by a MALE Candidate who wishes to apply for first, second and third test is Rs 5400/- (Rupees Four thousand only), FEMALE Candidate who wishes to apply for first, second and third test is Rs 4050/-
(iv) Application Fee payable by both MALE and FEMALE candidates belonging to SC/ST and PWD and transsexual category for any one test is Rs 1500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only) and for both tests is Rs 3,000/- (Rupees three thousand hundred only) for first, second and third test is Rs 4050/-
(iv) Application fee payable Candidates opting to appear from test centres outside the Territory of India is Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) for any one test and Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty thousand only)for first, second and third test is Rs 27000/- through online mode.
Following are the test timings:
Session 1 – 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 pm (180 mins/3.0 hours)
Session 2 (if required) – 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm (180 mins/ 3.0 hours)

The Council of Architecture is a statutory authority established under the Architects Act, 1972 (enacted by the Indian Parliament) to lay down and monitor the standards required to be maintained by the Architectural Institutions for imparting recognized architectural qualifications

Test centre details for each candidate will be provided in their admit cards. Admit card will be made public as per date mentioned in Appendix VI of brochure available on nata.in Cities / test centre location will be based, as far as possible, on the choices given by the candidate during filling up the form online. However, it is the discretion of the Council to allocate
the examination centre for smooth conduct of the test.
NATA 2022 is completely a computer-based test. Hence candidates need to only carry the following to the exam hall:
i. Downloaded Admit Card of NATA 2022.
ii. Original Proof of Identity- Aadhar/ Passport/ Driving License/ Voter ID.
iii. Pen, pencil and eraser for rough working, Mobile Phones, Bluetooth devices, Calculators, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Electronic Watches or any other electronic gadget with facilities of Calculator are not allowed in the Examination Hall. Possession of such items during the Examinations may lead to cancellation of candidature.
Candidates found carrying any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any other material will be debarred from appearing the examination.
The candidates will have to follow the time schedule as follows:
(a) Report to the Examination Center by 9.00 am
(b) Opening gate to the examination hall at 9.15 am
(c) Registration of candidate to be completed by 9.45 am
(d) Closing gate to the examination hall at 10.00 am
(e) Commencement of examination at 10.00 am
(f) Duration of examination: 10.00 am to 1.00 pm
Outline of Aptitude Test
The aptitude test of NATA may comprise questions of Multiple-Choice type (MCQ), Multiple Select type
(MSQ), Preferential Choice type (PCQ) and Numerical Answer type (NAQ) and Match the following type (MFQ) The questions will carry 1 mark, 2 marks or 3 marks and 125 questions have to be answered in 180 minutes. The medium of Aptitude test will be essentially English language. Some questions may be in regional languages also. The aptitude of the candidate will be assessed using some or all of the following techniques:
• Diagrammatic Reasoning – Tests the ability of logical reasoning, using diagrams and scenarios
• Numerical Reasoning – Tests mathematical ability through simple problems
• Verbal Reasoning – Assesses the ability to assess verbal logic.
• Inductive Reasoning – Tests the ability to see patterns and analyse given data
• Situational Judgment – Tests problem-solving ability.
• Logical Reasoning – Tests ability to recognise patterns, sequences or relationships between shapes and
imagery.
• Abstract Reasoning – Will assess general knowledge, and ability to utilise knowledge in new situations.
Questions could be asked in various topics that assess candidates on basic concepts in mathematics, physics
and geometry, language and interpretation, elements and principles of design, aesthetic sensitivity, colour
theory, lateral thinking and logical reasoning, visual perception and cognition, graphics and imagery, building, anatomy and architectural vocabulary, basic techniques of building construction and knowledge of material,
general knowledge and current affairs, etc. and are may not be limited to those outlined.
Qualifying marks for NATA- 2022 is 70 marks out of 200 marks.
